Education: 

Pearlie Yung attended the University of Southampton, England where she received her Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. She then furthered her education at the Institute of Sound of Vibration Research also at the University of Southampton, England where she then received her Master Degree, in 1997.

Thesis: Predictive Aeroacoustic Models of Organ Pipes

Professional Background: 

After receiving her Master Degree in 1997, Ms. Yung worked as an Audio Technician for AVI Sound International Ltd. in Richmond, B.C., where she designed automobile loudspeaker transducers, crossovers and enclosures.

In 1998 she joined John Swallow Associates Limited (now Swallow Acoustic Consultants Ltd.), since then, has been involved in various areas of acoustics.

Ms. Yung has been involved in a variety of acoustical projects, including environmental noise, architectural acoustics, and mechanical noise control. She has completed a number of Environmental Noise Impact Studies for residential dwellings, office buildings and schools; and prepared applications for Certificate of Approval (Air) for emergency generators and industrial plants. In the area of architectural acoustics, she has been involved in improving the acoustics in open offices, conference rooms, churches and school auditoriums. She has also been involved in architectural noise control in hotels, condominiums and offices such as reducing sound transmission between spaces and attenuating exterior noise to these buildings. In the area of mechanical noise control, she has been involved in rooftop mechanical equipment and induction unit noise control.
