Mihkel Toome, P.Eng., LEED AP [ Associate ]
Mihkel (Mikk) Toome attended McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario where he received his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2004. He has continued his education by taking courses in Acoustics (at U of T) and Finite Element Applications (at McMaster) to refine his knowledge of the Acoustics, Vibrations and Noise Control engineering field.
After receiving his Bachelors Degree in the summer of 2004, Mr. Toome joined Swallow Acoustic Consultants as a part-time engineer in training to work on the Rose Theatre in Brampton, Ontario. Mr. Toome joined SACL's permanent staff as an engineer in training in the fall of 2004. Mr. Toome completed his engineering internship (EIT) at the beginning of 2009 when he was registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Ontario.
Mr. Toome has been involved with a variety of acoustical projects; including environmental noise assessments, architectural acoustics, and mechanical noise control. He has been involved in the acoustic design of offices, private residences, theatres, places of worship, and hotel and condominium developments. He has also been involved in vibration control projects, which involved finite element analysis of structures, the development of specifications as well as the design of Tuned Mass Dampers (TMD) to control floor vibrations in both offices and recreational spaces.
